Closely branched and growing to 10’ or more, its leaves are dark green and spiny with a clean lustrous surface. New growth is brilliant bronze-red, and purple-tinted in winter. Spring flowers and summer berries are borne in densely clustered 6" spikes. Hardy to 10 F or below. Garden origin.
