A vigorous new selection introduced by High Country Gardens, ‘Blonde Ambition’ features all the fine attributes of Bouteloua gracilis but with a bolder presence. The blue-green foliage can reach almost 3 feet tall and is capped in early summer with chartreuse flowers reminiscent of musical notes. The flowers are larger than the species and age a sassy blond color. ‘Blond Ambition’ is an excellent choice for dry borders, massed as a lawn substitute, or mixed in a drought tolerant meadow. Plant in full sun with reasonable drainage. Hardy to 0F.
