Erect subshrub to 3’ with tuberous roots and a woody base. The gray-green leaves are velvety above and silvery gray beneath and provide a handsome backdrop for the dark magenta flowers. Plants bloom in spring and summer with the flowers appearing in loose clusters. The two uppermost petals of each blossom are marked with a deep purple stain. Hardy to 30F. South Africa.
