Bramble. Prostrate, evergreen shrub, forming a dense carpet of hairy, rooting stems. Stems of lobed, mallow-like leaves are glossy green, crinkled above, felt-covered below. Small white flowers appear in summer, resembling those of strawberries, but often concealed by the dense foliage. Red, edible berries appear in fall. Durable, it is suitable for the rock garden or as a groundcover. Requires good drainage and average soil, moderate water with full sun or light shade. Hardy to 10F. Himalayan. May also be listed as Rubus calycinoides.
