The flowers of this selection are greatly reduced and rather inconspicuous, though the flower stalks (even without showy blossoms) add height and interest. For best results, periodically remove the flower stalks to prevent reseeding. Some sources warm that this plant may reseed aggressively, but we have had no problems with it in two test plots in San Luis Obispo County. The striking purple foliage is an outstanding addition to colorful borders. Hardy to 20F.
